STRATEGIC ALERT
SOSUS ARRAY FEED // SIGNAL LOST
FROM: ALLIED MARITIME COMMAND (MARCOM) - NORTHWOOD
TO: COMMANDER, TASK FORCE VIKING / CSG-21
SUBJECT: CONTAINMENT FAILURE - GIUK BARRIER BREACHED

1. TACTICAL SITUATION: THE SHIELD IS BROKEN

Commander, the worst-case scenario has materialized. The deep-water SOSUS hydrophone arrays along the Greenland-Iceland-UK (GIUK) choke point registered a fading acoustic signature. Despite the continuous deployment of our ASW screens and MPA patrols, the contact—positively identified as a Russian Tier-1 nuclear-powered submarine—has successfully slipped past our final acoustic tripwires.

Containment has failed. The hostile asset has broken out of the Norwegian Sea and is now operating freely in the vast, deep waters of the North Atlantic.

⚠ CRITICAL THREAT ASSESSMENT

In the complex thermal layers and immense volume of the Atlantic basin, our acoustic advantage is effectively neutralized. Finding this submarine again will be like finding a needle in a thousand-mile, pitch-black haystack.

Naval Intelligence confirms this class of submarine is capable of deploying submerged land-attack cruise missiles (LACM). We must operate under the assumption that these weapons are tipped with tactical nuclear warheads. The Eastern Seaboard of the United States and our critical transatlantic logistical supply lines are now under direct, unquantifiable threat.
